While I would be the last to complain about the extra jobs that are coming to Enfield on the A10 retail park, it does bring to light issues around shopping there.
Firstly, there is the huge reduction in parking spaces taken up by the new stores being built, thus creating more demand for the limited amount of spaces left. Secondly, is the issue of the parking time allowed. Three hours parking is not enough if you are visiting several of the shops. I would imagine the idea of having shops that sell different things is ideal for attracting people to get several items in one trip, but the time taken in this is going to take more than three hours in some cases. To top it all off there are a couple of coffee shops just to add more time to the visit.
There has to be a better way of doing this, otherwise people will just move to other areas for their shopping. I thought the idea of creating retail parks in industrial areas was to create a one-stop shopping experience, not to make shoppers run from shop to shop whilst holding a hot cup of coffee just to get their shopping before the ticket police pounce.
Sort it out…
