A teenager who came through a battle with anorexia has been shortlisted for a national award for his work in helping others with the condition.
Jack Jacobs, 18, has campaigned to raise awareness and tackle stigmas surrounding eating disorders, particularly around young men.
The Enfield-based student speaks openly about his own experience of anorexia and has previously appeared on the BBC’s Newsbeat and ITV Daybreak to talk about the issue.
He has now been nominated for a media volunteers’ award by the UK’s leading eating disorder charity Beat.
Jack’s nominator for the awards said: “He is an amazing young man who is passionate about tackling the stigma around eating disorders. His drive and determination to overcome his eating disorder and to tell others they can do it too is outstanding.”
The Volunteer Recognition Awards take place on June 4 during National Volunteers Week at the House of Commons.
