A campaigner for accident and emergency services will be running once more at the local elections next month.

Former Councillor Kieran McGregor is standing for election once more under the National Health Action party and says he will press for A&E and maternity services to be reopened at Chase Farm  Hospital in The Ridgeway, Enfield.

The long battle to keep the key services open was ended in December, 2013 following a failed attempt by Enfield Borough Council at the high courts the month before.

Mr McGregor was elected to the council in 2006 as part of the Save Chase Farm group and will stand in the Town ward on May 22.

Mr McGregor said:  “All of the major political parties in Enfield have let us down with regard to our local health services. The major political parties have reneged on previous election promises to protect Chase Farm hospital.

“Moreover, the residents of Enfield were promised that the closure of Chase Farm would be accompanied by major improvements in other health services such as Primary Care and ambulance services.

“These promises have also been forgotten. The NHS action party is committed to protecting the most vital of public services: The NHS. If elected we will continue to hold local politicians and NHS officials to account."
