An Enfield teenager has been honoured with a Jack Petchey achievement award for her role in the sea cadets.
Maisie Davies, 14, is part of the Enfield Marine Society and Sea Cadets and was honoured along with 57 other members from units across London and Essex.
Selected by her peers, Maisie has been a part of the sea cadets for just over a year and revealed she initially thought of it as a hobby.
She said: “My sister and I originally took it up as a hobby but we both really liked it and decided to join.”
Maisie has taken part in a variety of competitions including the ‘Chosin Cup’, an adventure tournament.
She added: “I am honoured to have been selected by my peers and I hope to continue taking part in as many competitions as possible and gain as many qualifications.”
The teenager hopes to join the Royal Navy and collected her outstanding achievement award at the Kensington Great Hall on Sunday.
