An Edmonton park will be calling on volunteers to help plant a new orchard this weekend.
People can help plant 30 fruit trees at Jubilee Park in Edmonton in a ‘big dig’ on Sunday, February 23 at the park near the Kings Edward Road.
Members of the friends groups and residents in the area have been trained in how to take care of the orchard.
Enfield Borough Council’s cabinet member for environment, Councillor Chris Bond, said: “This is a fabulous project which will attract new wildlife to the park and involve the community in the growth and maintenance of our new orchard, this is yet another example of how Enfield Council is finding new and innovative ways of using its parks so they appeal to as many people as possible.
“It has the added benefits of increasing physical activity and access to fruit and brings people together, this is a great project.”
