Enfield North MP Nick de Bois has urged the Prime Minister to meet with him following the death of a two-year-old when he was taken to a closed down A&E.

Mr de Bois invited David Cameron to discuss “whether lessons can be learned” after Muhammad Hashir Naveed was rushed to Chase Farm Hospital in The Ridgeway, Enfield, in the early hours of Wednesday, January 15.

The toddler was then taken to North Middlesex hospital in Sterling Way, Edmonton, but was pronounced dead at 4am.

During Prime Minister's Questions today, Mr de Bois said: “I know that we cannot comment on the case until a full report is published, but does he agree that the effect of reconfigurations, often put through despite local opposition, including from myself, is that we are asking people to decide where to go for help at moments of great personal stress?

“Does he further agree that we must do more to explain the choices to help them decide? On publication of the report, will he meet me to see whether lessons can be learned and changes made?”

In response, the Prime Minister said he was “very happy” to meet with Mr de Bois and labelled the events of last week “an absolutely tragic case”.

Mr Cameron added: “I understand that the hospital is carrying out a full and comprehensive investigation into the circumstances around that poor child’s death.

“I have asked the Health Secretary to discuss the findings of the investigation with my honourable friend once it is completed. We must ensure that everything is done to avoid these terrible incidents happening in future."

Chase Farm Hospital A&E unit was closed on December 9, 2013, despite strong local opposition.

If debois is so against closure & his party for it how about resigning the whip?
They are just messing with our minds.
There has always been an A&E in Enfield how comes we can't afford it now?
When you go there its like going to a football match.
