Details of a new street clock that traders hope will attract more people to the area to shop have been released.

The design of the new Palmers Green Triangle clock monument is close to completion and planners hope it will be a new landmark for the area.

Details will be drawn from elements of buildings near the site, including shells from the top of Triangle House and the typography from the HSBC, formerly the Midland Bank.

The Green Lane Business Association, which proposed the structure, released the latest information to keep people updated and say the designs are not final at the moment and there will be some changes.

Surely it is the variety of shops available that is going to attract shoppers, not a clock which seems like a huge waste of money?

sks101 has forgotten the other facilities for which Palmers Green has become famous, namely the total 27 Licensed Massage and Special treatment hairdresser shops; 17 Licensed Betting Shop Premises and the pay day loan shops along Green Lanes N13/N21

Well the re installation of the clock from the Knights Lane frontage front of the demolished Edmonton Town Hall excited Edmontonians; for details and picture see the Enfield Independent story by Hermione Wright dated 8th April 2013. Unveiled by Mayor, Kate Anolue on March 28 funded by £35,000 from the Mayor of London’s Outer London Fund and the council’s Regeneration Capital Programme to bring the 1903 timepiece back to the borough on the corner of Bridge Street and Fore Street – opposite its original location.
