New council houses will be built in Enfield for the first time in three decades.
Planning permission has been granted to build on seven small sites in Enfield Town and Chase Side.
In all, 94 new houses and flats will be built, including 37 for shared ownership or rent from autumn 2014.
Six sheltered housing blocks were demolished in July last year and the new housing was approved last month.
Councillor Ahmet Oykener, who is the cabinet member responsible for housing, said: “This is great news for residents and it will be very exciting to follow the progress of the development and see people that are in need of a home of their own moving into their new property.”
