Enfield MPs David Burrowes and Nick de Bois have changed from blue to pink to support a breast cancer campaign.

To support “Wear it Pink” day on Friday, October 25, the two Conservatives encouraged people to sign up for the event by donning some questionable pink clothing.

Around 50,000 women and 400 men are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in the UK.

Cancer charity Breast Cancer Campaign is trying to unite everyone in wearing pink and raising enough money to help stop the 12,000 women and 80 men who die from the disease each year.

Enfield Southgate MP Mr Burrowes said: “I was proud to participate in wear it pink day and thoroughly enjoyed myself in the process. It should be remembered that breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK, accounting for nearly one in three of all cancers in women.

"I would therefore ask you to join me and Nick, wear something pink and donate £2. Plus, I guarantee that pink sunglasses look fetching on anyone.”

Mr de Bois, who represents Enfield North, said: “Over the past 10 years wear it pink has raised a staggering £23 million and on Friday October 25, 2013 people will come together in schools, colleges and businesses throughout the country to raise vital funds for Breast Cancer Campaign’s lifesaving research. It’s a great campaign and I am delighted to give it my support.”
