Despite its small size, a preparatory school has raised thousands of pounds for a child cruelty prevention charity.

Despite having fewer than 200 pupils, Salcombe Preparatory School in Chase Side, Southgate has managed to raise £4,206 for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC).

Raised with a 'big workout' for younger pupils and a spelling sprint for older children, the sum amounts to more than £20 per pupil.

Headteacher Sarah-Jane Davies said: “Thanks to the hard work and enthusiasm of our pupils in their fundraising, and the generosity of their relatives & family friends, this year we raised a record amount for the NSPCC.

“We are continuing our charity efforts with the local Macmillan Coffee Morning on Friday 27th from 8am. The pupils are justifiably very proud of their achievement as are all of the staff here at Salcombe Preparatory School.”
