The first support session for people with a rare and incurable illness was a storming success.

Twelve people came along to the I Am Lupus support group in at St John and St James Church of England Primary School in Grove Street in Edmonton on Saturday.

They listened to a presentation about how to deal with the pain from the condition, which can lead to serious complications including kidney failure or heart disease.

Loretta Campbell-Allen, who suffers from lupus, said: “It was amazing. People said they can’t wait for the next one, they have made friends and connected with people the same age.”

The sessions will take place on the third Saturday of every month. Anyone is welcome to attend.
