by DOMINIC GOVER A rugby team has produced a risque calendar to raise cash for the fight against leukaemia.

Members of Southgate Rugby Club have posed for a variety of pictures that just about preserve their modesty in a bid to raise money.

The 2007 annal is full of fit men in various guises and garbs. And the players' girlfriends have also entered into the spirit of things, not by stripping off, but by wearing Southgate RFC rugby shirts.

Tim Miall plays for the side which shares a ground with the Saracens, in Bramley Road. He said: "It's all a lot of fun and very silly. Our captain, who's Greek, appears in a toga. We have sold quite a few calendars already."

The team feel that the calendar is an apt way to commemorate Mickey Bundle, who passed away aged 41, after suffereing with leukaemia for two years..

Mr Miall said: "Mickey played for the club for years as a front row hooker and was a real stalwart of the team. In the last few months he lived life to the full."

All the cash raised from sales of the cheeky calendar, which costs £10, will go to Luekaemia Research. Southgate's campaigning players also plan to take part in a ten kilometre run to procure further funds for the charity.

The calandar can be bought from the club's sponsors the White Hart in Southgate Circus or by visiting www.southgaterfc.org and emailing the club captain.
