INVERFORTH Open Space in New Southgate is to have a Millennium Green created next year with a £45,000 grant from the Countryside Commission.
Enfield Council is committed to providing match-funding for the development and the Local Agenda 21 group has provided £1,000.
Cllr Mark Sutters, lead for the millennium celebrations, said: "This successful award recognises the need to establish a valuable and pleasant area in this part of the borough and it will be run by local people through a local Millennium Green Trust."
Work on the green is due to start in spring next year.
