Tottenham look to have failed in a bid to sign £8m Brazil midfielder Paulo Henrique Ganso after reports suggest Sao Paulo have agreed a fee for the playmaker.

Spurs were supposedly among a host of European clubs believed to be keen on the Brazil international but current club Santos have reportedly agreed to sell to Serie A rivals Sao Paolo in a $11.5 million deal.

“Negotiations are well advanced but we still can’t say the deal is done,” Sao Paulo spokesman Carlos Leco said.

If the transfer is completed Spurs may be forced to switch their attention back to Porto midfielder Joao Moutinho as Daniel Levy looks to fill the void left by Luka Modric who joined Real Madrid in the summer.
