Justin Edinburgh has heaped praise on Leyton Orient captain Jobi McAnuff after the midfielder signed a new contract.

McAnuff, 38, signed a new one-year deal at the club, which was announced earlier today, to keep him at the Breyer Group Stadium as the O’s make their return to the Football League.

In a video on the club’s Twitter account, Edinburgh said: “What can I say about this lad? He’s at the tender age of 38 and he’s still playing like an 18-year-old. He’s a leader, he’s an incredible professional, makes my job so easy and is incredibly reliant on and off the pitch.

“I think we count ourselves lucky to have the professional that he is playing for our club and I’m glad to know that he’s going to be playing another season with us and hopefully he can keep him here until he’s in his 40s.”

McAnuff has made 140 appearances across two spells with Orient, scoring 17 goals.
