Leyton Orient duo Josh Koroma and Marvin Ekpiteta have been rewarded for their excellent starts to the season by being called up to the England C squad.

The duo will be in familiar surroundings if selected for England’s game against Estonia’s Under-23s, with the match set to be played at the Breyer Group Stadium on Wednesday, October 10.

Both Koroma and Ekpiteta could also be joined in the squad by O’s youngster Myles Judd, who has been named on the contingency list.

Young forward Koroma has flourished since Justin Edinburgh’s appointment as head coach back in November and finished last season strongly after scoring three goals in Orient’s last six games.

He was handed his England C debut back in May and the O’s academy graduate has started this season in fine form following a successful pre-season, which saw him net seven times in five games.

Koroma’s versatility is one of his main assets and he has impressed alongside Macaulay Bonne up front this season, scoring twice.

He also racked up two assists in Orient’s crucial away win over Harrogate Town on Saturday, a result which propelled the East London side up to first place in the National League.

Ekpiteta, meanwhile, has been handed his maiden call-up after proving himself to be a reliable figure at the back for the O’s since deputising for the injured George Elokobi against Ebbsfleet United in August.

The 21-year-old, who moved to East London from East Thurrock United in January, made his debut against Dover Athletic in March and enjoyed an extended run in the side towards the end of last season, as Orient secured a 13th place finish in the National League.

Ekpiteta has impressed once again this campaign, forming an impressive partnership with Josh Coulson at the back, and has scored two crucial goals against Gateshead as well as Maidstone United.
