ARSENAL look set to complete the signing of French defender Sebastien Squillaci after his club Sevilla revealed he was having a medical in London.

It is believed the Gunners have shelled out between £4million and £6m for the 30-year-old.

A statement on Sevilla's website read: “A transfer deal has been agreed, subject to the player passing a medical.”

Squillaci will reportedly be offered a three-year contract, despite manager Arsene Wenger's usual policy of offering players in their thirties shorter deals.

Wenger has already signed Laurent Koscielny this summer to bolster their defence, having seen William Gallas, Mikael Silvestre, Sol Campbell and Philippe Senderos all depart the Emirates since the end of last season.
