Spurs made a last minute attempt to snatch Malaga midfielder Isco in the summer transfer window, according to reports in Spain.
The 20-year-old burst on to the scene in the Champions League last night with two goals in Malaga's 3-0 victory over Zenit St Petersburg.
Spanish publication, AS, say that Tottenham offered €12 million plus Giovani Dos Santos for the playmaker on deadline day but an agreement could not be agreed.
AS also claim top Spurs scout Ian Bloomfield made a personal trip to Malaga to try and force through a deal.
Isco reportedly has a buyout clause worth €21 million which rises €1 million a year until 2016 and Tottenham are thought to be keen to resurrect a move in January.
