Since when has size proved a barrier to success? Diminutive full-back, James Ryan, something of a David figure in a world of rugby Goliaths, has been rewarded for some memorable displays by seeing off some spirited competition to take the Enfield Ignatians Under-15 Player of the Year award.

Coach Steve Renny said: "Not everyone was convinced that James would make the grade as a rugby player. However, in many ways, he sets the example by turning up to training every week and has really come on strongly."

Other award winners were Alex Bucknall (Player's Player) whereas Krishan Gosai and Jake Baker shared the Most Improved title. There were no shortage of candidates either for the Trainer of the Year award which resulted in a triple dead-heat between Adam Hester, Alex McCall and Gianluca Francioso.

The side's County player, Ethan Renny, part of a very talented backline, won the Oscar Nel Memorial award. He was also the recipient of a Jack Petchey award together with George Rutt.

Hooker Sam Pennicott, a player invariably at the sharp end of the game, came up trumps in the Enfield Ignatians Under-17 Player of the Season award following a memorable campaign in which the side came tantalisingly close to league success.

Sam Bucknall (Players' Player), Richard Hall (Most Improved) Henry Pritchard (Oscar Nel Memorial Award) and Miles Wotherspoon (Maurice Nwakor award) were other award winners in this age group. Indeed, Wotherspoon was one of five players to gain County honours in tandem with Pennicott, Bucknall, Ryan Browne and Pritchard.

The Under-17s runs two teams and the the Player of the Year for the Phoenix team, which invariably proves a springboard for those aspiring to play in the A side, saw Sam Harmer crowned Player of the Year following a number of rugged displays. Mike Mahoney (Most Improved) and Ben Pratt (Coach's Player) were other award winners.
