Spurs are reportedly prepared to break their wage structure to land Emmanuel Adebayor on a permanent basis before the transfer window closes tonight.
The Togo striker is currently on a season-long loan from Manchester City but Harry Redknapp is said to want to secure the future of the 27-year-old, who has scored nine Premier League goals this season.
However, it is claimed Tottenham are only willing to pay £8m for the forward, who cost City £25m when they signed him from Arsenal in 2009.
Adebayor is also thought to be on £170,000 a week at City and would have to take a pay cut if he were to move to White Hart Lane permanently, although he could be offered £100,000 – the same amount Luka Modric will reportedly be offered to convince him to remain at the club.
