ENFIELD Town FC’s ambitious stadium project at Donkey Lane has been boosted by a big cash grant, writes Dominic Gover.

The club have won £81,504 from the Football Stadium Improvement Fund.

The money will be used to cover the costs of work already carried out by the club to rescue the Queen Elizabeth Stadium from a derelict state.

The shot in the arm was announced by the club at a meeting held at the site.

Afterwards, club spokesman Ciaran Glennon said: “Everyone was very positive and it looks good. There’s been a lot of work on things and now we’re moving on to the next phase.

“Things look hugely improved already."

Next up is renovation and repairs to buildings there.

Town want to move to their new home in time for the 2011-12 season.

Cheers from fans and staff greeted the signing of the grant forms by club chairman Paul Millington at the meeting.
