It is five years since Enfield Town were formed.

And it has been a tremendous five years for the progressive club, who originated following the sale of Enfield FC's Southbury Road stadium in 2001, which resulted in that club leaving the borough.

The Goldsdown Road outfit, managed by Jim Chandler, have made great strides both on and off the pitch.

They are now one of the best-supported clubs at their level and are sure to be one of the promotion favourites when they begin their Ryman League Division One North campaign this August.

Club press officer Ciaran Glennon recalls his five most memorable moments over the past five years.

Town's first ever game

This was a friendly against Brimsdown Rovers, who Town currently share a ground with. The day was full of unknowns. Despite the expertise of many of the people involved in setting it up, nobody really knew what to expect on the day. A lot of hard work had been done in a very short space of time, but it was all worth it when 350 people turned up to watch a 1-1 draw.

The first Essex Senior League Cup triumph

Town's League Cup win over Leyton in 2002 was not the first trophy in the cabinet, but a fitting reward for a great first season in the Essex Senior League.

A late Bradley Brotherton equaliser meant the game went to penalties, where keeper Andy Hall became the hero of the day.

The success formed part of a treble of trophies to go with an encouraging second-place finish in the league, which was another landmark moment for the club.

Winning at Harrow Borough to reach the 2003 Middlesex Senior Cup final

This was a hugely-entertaining game against quality opponents. It proved Town could hold their own against the best.

Jim Chandler's troops went on to meet Hendon in the final after this superb 2-1 victory.

Winning the Essex Senior League at the home of nearest challengers Burnham Ramblers

After a very close season, the finale to the 2004-05 campaign could not have been more tense. This game decided the title and a great crowd of Town supporters made the trip. Despite having an early goal disallowed, Town went on to win the game and booked their place in the Southern League.

Kicking off the 2005-06 season in the Southern League

This meant so much and was a great reward for all the hard work people had put in over the years, such as the improvements made to the ground and pitch. It capped a very special five years. Town went on to have an excellent first season at this level and just missed out on promotion.
