GRANGE PARK A retained their crown at the Enfield Schools Tag Rugby Tournament.

Victory for the Worlds End Lane school means that they will again represent Enfield in the National Tag Rugby tournament in July, a competition in which Grange Park finished third last year.

Grange Park A is a side bristling with flair and it told in the final against a spirited Eversley A team, which competed well before being outgunned 5-2 in the heat of Enfield Playing Fields.

The 'reds' of Eversley still have the consolation of representing Enfield at the London Youth Mini-Games at Crystal Palace in July after beating Carterhatch B and Merryhills A on their way to the final.

After comfortably coming through the pool stages, Grange Park A were pitted against Merryhills B in the last eight.

In a repeat of last year's final, the purples' deservedly prevailed 5-3.

The toughest hurdle for Grange Park A proved to be a pulsating semi-final clash with St Andrews A - a side that reached the same stage last year - and which at full-time was evenly poised at three tries all.

And as the excitement levels mounted, Grange Park found a fully-deserved golden try to take them through to the final.
