With seven days to go before their season kicks off, Enfield Borough gained a comfortable 6-0 victory over Clapton in a friendly at the Maurice Rebak Stadium.

A hat-trick from from Bruno Tavares, two from Blessing Tshibikubla and a goal apiece for Richard Worrell and Richard Ennin made the difference as Borough cruised to victory with ease.

After a promising start to the match, Enfield took the lead after twelve minutes.

Tavares collected the ball and held off a couple of challenges before firing home across Jack Francis and into the bottom corner of the net.

The lead was doubled soon after when new signing Carlito Montana’s shot flew into the side netting.

Francis took a very quick goal kick which was knocked back to him, but the alert Tavares, who was on the keeper’s blindside, nipped in to steal possession and shot on the turn into the roof of the net.

It was 3-0 before the half hour mark as Tavares closed down Francis’s clearance and his partially blocked attempt fell perfectly to Tshibikubla on the edge of the box and the striker threaded his shot between the keeper and defenders to find the back of the net.

The two strikers combined again four minutes later as Tshibikubla’s right wing cross was confidently swept home by Tavares to give him a twenty one minute hat-trick and Enfield a four-goal advantage at the break.

After the drama of the first half, the second period was tame by comparison, but Borough re-discovered their scoring touch in the closing five minutes.

Micah Jackson spotted Montana in space on the right, his cutback intelligently picked out Worrell around the penalty spot and the substitute nonchalantly netted.

Goal number six came when Jackson sent in a shot which Francis pushed onto the bar, only for Ennin to turn in the rebound.
