Enfield Ignatians have been promoted to level seven for the 2020/21 season, after the Rugby Football Union (RFU) declared the current campaign to be finished.
The RFU called time on the season in March due to the Covid-19 crisis, with four games still remaining, with Ignatians sitting in second place in the London Three North-West division, after winning 15 and drawing one of their 18 games.
However, after a few weeks’ deliberation, the RFU has determined final league standings by using a ‘best playing record’ formula to settle the issues of promotion and relegation from the Championship [second division] downwards.
This means Ignatians have climbed up a step, following what has been an impressive campaign.
Shane Manning, the Ignatians’ head coach said he was pleased his players’ efforts had not gone to waste
“I’m so glad the wait is over. I’m really happy for the squad and the club that we’re going back up to London Two level,” he said.
“Everyone played their part this season, and I firmly believe that we’re a better side than last season.”
