New Salamis ended Winslow United’s 100 per cent start to the season by thrashing them 8-2 to move up to fifth in the Spartan South Midlands League Division One.
Salamis took the lead after just two minutes when Charlie Georgiou slotted home, and Deniz Mehmet scored either side of Bobby Smith’s penalty save to make it three.
Winslow pulled one back just before the break before both teams went down to 10 men for a clash in the away penalty area.
Richard Georgiou’s penalty made it 4-1 after the interval and further goals from Charlie and Richard Georgiou as well as debutant Courtney Austin increased it to seven.
Winslow got a second after some scrappy defending, but Andreas Cumunaj rounded it off with Salamis’ eighth.
Next up in a League Challenge Trophy tie against Berkhamsted Raiders tomorrow night and then an FA Vase match at home to Codicote on Saturday.
