Overall victory in Sunday’s Tams Packaging North Weald Sprint, which was co-organised by Enfield’s Green Belt Motor Club, went to Duncan Cowper from Croydon’s Borough 19 Motor Club.

Driving his turbocharged Dax Rush, he clocked a best time of 1:11.8 seconds. He recorded this time on the last of his three timed runs around the 1.1 mile long course on the World War II airfield’s rather bumpy runways.

Members of the club won two of the 15 classes. Chris Jones in his blue Subaru Impreza set a best time of 1:26.6, gaining sixth place overall and victory in the hotly contested class for over 2000cc modified road cars.

Another Green Belter, Rob Choules, was placed well down the overall order but he managed to win the class for under 1600cc two wheel drive cars in his Citroen Saxo.

Finally, the special trophy for the highest finishing Green Belt Motor Club member who had not won any of the overall or class awards already during the event went to club president Richard Warne.

He drove his Car Spares Cheshunt and Comer Oils-sponsored Ford Escort Mk2 to seventh place overall to claim the special award for himself.
