Tottenham Hotspur forward Lucas Moura is happy with the fast start that he has made in pre-season and wants it to continue into the start of the Premier League campaign.

The Brazilian scored the equaliser in Spurs’ 3-2 win against Juventus in the International Champions Cup via an assist from new signing Tanguy Ndombele, and he hopes that similar performances will help the side have another strong season.

Speaking to the Spurs website after the Juventus win, Moura said: “It’s true, last season I scored in the first game and now I’ve scored again. I’m so happy. It’s important to score, to help my teammates and I hope at the end of the season we win a trophy because I believe we can and that’s our objective.

“What a start from Tanguy! I’m very happy. He’s a great player, I’m sure he will help us and that we will be stronger this season.”

Spurs initially took the lead against their Serie A opponents through Erik Lamela before conceding twice in four minutes to Gonzalo Higuain and Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, the 50,000 fans in Singapore witnessed another Spurs comeback, as Moura levelled five minutes after Ronaldo’s strike before Harry Kane’s incredible goal from barely inside the opposition half won the game in stoppage time.

And Moura was happy that his side were able to provide a brilliant spectacle for those in the ground, as well as having some personal pride for scoring the equalising goal just after the hour mark.

He said: “What a game and what an atmosphere! We played against a very good team and did really well. I’m so proud of my teammates.

“We are working very hard in this pre-season and it’s very good to start like this with a victory against Juve.

“We need to keep working. I’m happy to score one goal to help the team. That’s the way.”
