Enfield Borough closed the 2018/19 season with one of their finest displays of the campaign as they defeated third placed Winslow United 4-1 on Friday evening.

However, they were behind in just the sixth minute when Micah Jackson gave the ball away in midfield and Aston Goss overcame Deniz Karakaya’s weak challenge and struck the ball into the corner of the net.

That lead would last until eight minutes after the break when Borough equalised.

Tage Kennedy played the ball to Alie Bangura on the left and the forward found himself close to the by-line, but from the narrowest of angles he managed to squeeze the ball past Alex Woodfine and into the net.

Borough then took the lead for the first time at the midway point of the half when Kennedy and Tom Opoku attacked down the left and when the former centred, Karakaya struck from 25 yards and a deflection took his shot beyond the helpless Woodfine and into the net.

Borough were now in the ascendancy and their last two goals were late contenders for goal of the season.

After 74 minutes Jamiah Lawrence-Plentie passed to Kennedy on the left wing. Kennedy cut inside, dropped a shoulder to beat one defender, repeated the trick to beat a second and from 20 yards drove the ball high into the roof of the net.

If that set the benchmark, the final goal eight minutes from time was of equal quality.

Jackson received the ball in midfield and played it through the visitors’ defence, setting off in hot pursuit. Once inside the penalty box, he was confronted by a defender close to the by-line, but the attacker first nutmegged him before curling his shot around the keeper and into the corner of the net to see Borough round off the win in style.
