Juan Camilo Hernandez made a flying start to his senior Colombia career as he scored a brace – the first of which arriving just 32 seconds after he came on as a sub.

The Watford youngster, who is known as Cucho and is currently on loan at Spanish club Huesca, was introduced in the 72nd minute with the scores at 1-1 and found the net with his very first touch.

He added a second to his tally in stoppage-time to seal a 3-1 win over a Costa Rica side which had cancelled out Carlos Bacca’s opener through Kendall Watson on the stroke of half-time.

Cucho’s stunning arrival on the international scene made him the first Colombian player in 20 years to score twice on his debut.

At the age of 19 years and 145 days old he is the youngest of three players in Colombia’s history to have achieved such a feat.

The forward’s first goal was a simple one, as he reacted quickest to head in from six yards out after Juan Cuadrado’s low shot had been parried by the Costa Rica keeper.

He once again showed his predatory instinct at the death, holding his run to find space by the penalty spot and turning in from Cuadrado’s pull back with a simple finish.

Having helped Huesca gain promotion to La Liga last season by scoring 16 goals in 36 outings, Cucho has continued to impress with his loan club this term.

He found the net in a defeat at Barcelona in September and has been linked with a move to the Catalan club in the past.

Watford, though, have no intention to sell a player who joined the club in July 2017 and clearly has a bright future in the game at this stage.
