Lee Mason is set to referee Watford’s third round Carabao Cup tie with Tottenham Hotspur tomorrow night.
It will be the first time this season the official, who has shown 16 yellow cards in six games in 2018/19, has taken charge of a Watford game.
He was referee for four Watford games last season, with the Hornets picking up a solitary win from games which Mason oversaw.
That success came in a 2-1 win at Swansea City in September last year and was followed by losses to Crystal Palace (2-1), Manchester City (3-1) and Manchester United (1-0).
The defeat at Palace saw Mason send off Tom Cleverley for a second bookable offence late in the game.
Tottenham’s most recent outing with Mason as ref came in August 2017 and ended in a 1-1 home draw with Burnley.
