Rampant Enfield Borough’s insatiable appetite for goals shows no signs of abating after they notched up another seven en route to a 7-2 thrashing of Risborough Rangers to continue their fine start to the season under new boss Shaun Reece.

Borough have now netted 27 goals in their last five matches, all of which have ended in comprehensive victories, as the Panthers continue to set the early-season pace and lay down a marker to the rest of Spartan South Midlands League Division One.

The foundations for another excellent afternoon were firmly laid at the Maurice Rebak Stadium with an opening half-an-hour blitz that saw the hosts race into a 3-0 lead.

Goals from midfielder Brandon McKenna and two from Greg Moore put Borough in the driving seat, before they added a fourth on the stroke of half-time thanks to Alie Bangura who waltzed his way past five or six Risborough players before finishing, cancelling out a Risborough consolation in the process.

The quest for further goals continued into the second period as Moore registered his hat-trick following good work by both Guy Kiangebeni and Isaac Stevens.

The sixth strike did not arrive until 13 minutes from the end as Moore capped a fine individual display with his fourth of the afternoon.

Stevens turned provider again and once presented with a clear sight of goal, there was only ever going to be one outcome as Moore tucked away with consummate ease.

Another marker from Risborough was not likely to dampen the mood among the home faithful, and so it proved as substitute Richard Olawatoyin got in on the act to claim goal number seven.

The next challenge for Reece’s prolific Borough side comes in the form of a home tie in the FA Vase on Saturday against Halstead Town.
