Tottenham have made an enquiry about the availability of Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke.
Having finalised the signing of Paulinho, Spurs have switched their attention to securing two top-class forwards.
Barcelona's David Villa is Andre Villas-Boas' top target and Tottenham are confident a deal can be struck in the next fortnight, with only a fee yet to be agreed.
Barca want £12m whereas Spurs are looking to pay closer to £8m.
Valencia's Roberto Soldado is the club's second target but the striker's desire to play in the Champions League and Valencia's valuation of their star man mean Spurs will consider alternatives.
Benteke is thought to be next on Tottenham's shortlist but the Belgium centre forward won't come cheap.
Aston Villa are determined to keep their star player and could demand up to £20m.
