THIS is the dramatic moment a high-speed crash was caught by a police dash cam.

Officers parked in a layby watched the Citroen C1 travelling around 90mph crash into another car and flipping over multiple times.

Driver Lewis Box, 20, was sentenced at Swindon Magistrates' Court.

He has been disqualified for two years after pleading guilty to dangerous driving.

Three passengers in the car at the time of crash on Chequers Hill, near Chippenham, escaped without any serious injuries.

PC Andy Lee said: “Box was travelling at such speed that the impact of the collision has caused his vehicle to spin off to the right violently, into the verge on the opposite carriageway, before rolling multiple times.

“The officers who witnessed the incident remained with Box while emergency services attended and were able to cut him free from the vehicle.”

As well as the disqualification, Box, of Wetherby Close, Chippenham, was given a 12-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months, ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work, pay a victim surcharge of £85 and Crown Prosecution Service costs of £85.

PC Lee added: “It is really fortunate that nobody was seriously injured in this incident. I hope that releasing this footage of the collision highlights the dangers and consequences of driving dangerously. The speed limits on our roads are there for your own safety – please respect them and other road users by driving within the limit at all times.”
