ENVIRONMENTALLY-conscious beauties are gearing up to take on the Earth with fundraising efforts this week.

Having taken won two of the five Miss Greater London titles, the Enfield pair are both hoping to clinch the Miss Earth UK title in the Grand Final on August 30 in Warwickshire.

First runner up Sonia Dham, 22, of Hillfield Park, has organised a sale of new, used, designer and vintage clothing and cosmetics in aid of Wildlife charity WWF.

Red Magazine and publishers Hachette Fillipacci have donated clothes and cosmetics and Green people, her offical sponsor, has also helped out with cosmetics and will have a stand at the Get Gorgeously Green Sale, on Saturday August 23 at St Johns Hall, Bourn Hill, Palmers Green from 1pm - 4pm.

The day will also feature environment workshops, a sale of books and homeware and henna tattoos and mini-makeovers by qualified makeup artists.

Down in South London tomorrow, Software engineer Brenda Patterson, 26, of Kirkland Drive, Enfield, is helping out at a family fun day organised by charity Trees for Cities.

She will present awards to winners of a gardening competition and help run environment-themed activites for children. The day will be held in the community resource centre in Squires Court, Stockwell.
