A 15-year-old boy has been given a life sentence for the murder Leroy James in Ponders End Recreation Ground last year.
Mustafa Gurpinar was found guilty of stabbing the 14-year-old boy to death in on August 18 during a fight arranged after he sent threats via Facebook to one of the victim’s friends.
He pulled a knife out of his pocket when the larger boy got the better of him and stabbed in under his left arm, the Old Bailey heard.
The Aylward Academy pupil Leroy, who before the fight handed his mobile phone to a girl who videoed his death, was confirmed dead at the scene.
The harrowing 12-second clip was shown to the jury during the three-week trial in June this year.
During the trial the courts heard how the killer, who called his knife his “pet” or “alligator”, showed an obsession with the weapons.
Gurpinar will serve a minimum of 13 years.
