A volunteering veteran from an amateur dramatic society is due to celebrate 30 years of performances with his group’s autumn show.

Frank Bundle has been helping the Enfield Light Operatic and Dramatic Society (ELODS) since 1982 and is currently working on putting the finishing touches to its latest production.

The 73-year-old has done a number of jobs for the society, including treasurer, stage manager, set builder and box office manager.

He said: “I love theatre and the whole atmosphere you get from putting on a production and creating an illusion for the audience.

“When I was about 11 at school, I first got the bug for drama and I appeared in a few school productions.

“After leaving school I got involved in with several dramatic societies and I first worked for the ELDOS in 1982.

“I think the society is very special and different to others. There’s a real sense of community among everyone involved and that really makes it so special.”

Mr Bundle has been involved in every production the society has performed since 1982, except one, knocking up a total of 58 shows.

The retiered electrical engineer is also responsible for building all the sets for the productions which he does in his back garden in Winchmore Hill.

Sunny Carter, member of ELODS, said: “Frank has been so passionate and dedicated to the society. He always there ready to help and I think he has done every job possible.

“The great thing about ELDOS is that we are all love what we’re doing and there is a real feeling of community at the group.”

The company will be staging a performance of Oklahoma! in three weeks time at The Wyllyotts Theatre, in Potters Bar from Tuesday, October 9, to Saturday, October 13.

Talking about the latest production, Mr Bundle said: “I think this one is really coming together, there is still a lot to do but it will be a great show.”
