A juggling bartender has made it to the final of a national cocktail making competition.

Paul Campbell, from Enfield, has made it to the UK Bartender Flairing Championship final which will be taking place in Manchester later this week.

Flairing, popularised by Tom Cruise in the film Cocktail, is the art of making cocktails while juggling and spinning bottles to music.

The 31-year-old, who works in TGI Friday’s restaurant in the O2, Greenwich, and his bartending partner Matthew Cotta, 21, battled it out against other teams from across the county reach the final.

He said: “We’re really happy to have made it through to the UK grand final and have shown that Matthew and I are one of the best teams in the UK.

“It takes hours of practice every day to ensure our moves are exactly in sync and after all of the action and theatre, we still have to ensure the drink we serve is perfect.

“Flairing is a great deal of fun, and it also demonstrates the great bartending skills. To be recognised as one of the best in the business is a huge achievement and we can’t wait to compete in the UK final.”

The final will take place at the Palace Hotel in Manchester tomorrow evening and the pair will be competing for the chance to compete in the European Bartender Championship.
