Pupils from a dance school have been picked to take part in prestigious performance event at the Royal Albert Hall.

The 17 dancers aged between 14 and 18 are from The Morgan Aslanoff School of Dance, based in Enfield, and will be taking part in the second annual Dance Proms at the famous London venue later this year.

The group is one of 24 other dance groups selected from hundreds around the country to take part in the dance festival.

School principal and choreographer Michele Aslanoff says: “It is an honour to dance in Dance Proms again and a truly magical experience for both the group dancers and our solo dancer to dance in such an amazing venue.”

In order to qualify for the proms, dance teachers had to submit short dance piece featuring original choreography, in any genre, performed by their students.

Two dance acts from the school will be taking part in the event, with one performing a song and tap number called We Can't Be Bothered Now.

The other is a solo male tap number called Swing Time, danced by talented 18-year-old Jamal Wolfe.

At the performance November 4 there will be a number of special guests including include Strictly Come Dancing’s Darren Bennett and Lilia Kopylova.
