Enfield’s Albany Leisure Centre is to re-open on Monday after an eight month redevelopment programme.

The Hertford Road centre now boasts modern facilities including a gym, studios for group exercises, a 25 metre pool, new changing rooms and a refurbished reception and café.

The opening will correspond with the start of a six week school holiday programme and will be celebrated with a free open weekend on August 4 and 5.

Visitors will be able to tour the centre, sample exercise classes, swim for free and experience children’s activities.

Bambos Charalambous, Enfield Council cabinet member for culture, leisure, youth and Localism: “The redevelopment of the Albany Leisure Centre has been a real success story.

“Not only have we managed to keep the pools open throughout, but the temporary facilities have been of extremely high quality, so that regular gym users could still enjoy the centre.

“Albany can now truly claim to be state-of-the-art and I’d encourage Enfield residents to come along on the Open Weekend and give it a try!”
