The hosepipe ban in place in Enfield is set to be lifted sooner than first expected.

Water provider Thames Water announced the news yesterday after a record amount of rainfall during the spring.

Richard Aylard, sustainability director for Thames Water, said: “The record spring rainfall has eased the situation considerably.

“The River Thames provides 70% of the water we supply to our customers and levels are now where we would expect them to be at this time of the year, and our reservoirs are still full.”

The ban, which is known as a temporary use ban, has been in place since April 5.

The restrictions include banning watering gardens and plants using a hosepipe.

Cleaning cars, walls or leisure boats using a hosepipe are also not permitted.
