An Enfield schoolgirl has been crowned Under 16 Girls Table Tennis Champion.
Eda Aydin, 14, who attends Chace Community School in Churchbury Lane, won the finals of the singles competition at the London Schools’ Table Tennis Championships, at Redbridge Sports Centre on Satuday.
Eda said “I have been playing table tennis for about three years and think it’s a great sport.
“My Mum got me playing and I like winning competitions. Getting to play other people and in different places has been a good experience.”
In total, 65 players representing 38 schools from across London took part in the finals which were the climax of a tournament which began as regional competitions earlier this year.
The London Schools’ Table Tennis competition is designed to get more young people interested in playing the sport at school.
It involves individual and team competitions open to boys and girls in full-time education at U11, U13, U16 and U19 age groups.
