The friends and family of the father killed while riding his bike in Tottenham are trying to raise money to send his body back to Uganda.

Frank Mugisha, 41, who had four children, died last Monday after he was struck by a car in Great Cambridge Road, Tottenham, on Tuesday, March 27.

Mr Mugisha, who was a sports coach at the Rhino Athletics Club in Enfield, lived in Hoe Lane, Enfield, but was originally from Uganda.

His friends and family, including his wife of ten years Jennifer, meet at the house in Hoe Lane each night to share memories and support each other following his death.

Humphrey Kasule, 31, who lives in Ponders End, Enfield, had been friends with Mr Mugisha for five years.

He said: “He will be dearly missed. It is one of these things that even when you are told your friend has died, you never think it is right. You always think, it was not Frank.

“All of the community say he was unique and different to other people. He was lovely jubbly, a very outgoing and a very popular man.

“All these community places they used to know him and he would see them and make them happy. He was a good father, a good husband, a good friend.”

He said his friend was an avid sports fan and particularly enjoyed playing badminton, football and cycling.

Despite Mr Mugisha asking Mr Kasule many times to join him in a bike ride, he always refused because he does not own a bike and does not enjoy the sport.

He said one of his greatest memories of the family man will be his passion for Arsenal football club.

He said although Mr Mugisha visited the Emirates Stadium in Holloway only a few times, his real love was to invite friends round to his house in Enfield to watch the game at weekends.

Mr Kasule, who supports Manchester United, said despite not supporting Mr Mugisha’s club, he would always like to go to his house to see his friend who was always smiling.

The pair would also go to Enfield parks regularly at weekends to kick a football about and spend time together.

Mr Kasule is working with his friend Isaac Adams, 33, are working to create a memorial event to celebrate the life of Mr Mugisha.

The memorial event will also aim to raise money to send his body to his home country for burial. Mr Mugisha had planned to return to Uganda this week to visit friends and family who still live there.
