Children from a New Southgate primary school are enjoying their new-found fame as the stars of the official music video for Sport Relief.

Three lucky pupils in Years 5 and 6 at Bowes Primary School in Bowes Road play mini-versions of Team GB swimmer Rebecca Adlington, triple jumper Phillips Idowu and gymnast Louis Smith in the new JLS video for Proud, which is released next week to raise money for the charity.

Stephanie Christodoulou, 10, who appears as a dancer in the rain while others run for cover, said she wanted to be an actress when she grew up.

She said: “I was amazed when I was picked to play a young Rebecca. It was so exciting and I had to get soaking wet four times to film my parts. That was my favourite bit.”

Joshua Corben, 10, who is shown with a remarkable talent for leaping in a supermarket in the video, said it was “so exciting” to take part.

He added: “My favourite part of the filming was jumping on the tables, because we are not allowed to do that in school.

“My mum thinks it could be the start of my TV career and the teachers want my autograph!”

And Kassius Carey Johnson, 10, who is shown displaying his impressive break dancing skills, said his family were “really proud” of him.

He said: “It was exciting and really fun filming the video. I had to street dance and walk on a very high wall. My friends think it was really cool to be filmed in a JLS video.”

Cash raised from the single will go to projects helping vulnerable people in the UK and abroad, and tens of thousands of people are set to run the Sport Relief mile on March 25 to raise money.

Headteacher Sarah Turner, said: “I am very proud of the children who played roles in the video. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to have fun and contribute to Sport Relief, which is such a great cause.

“There was a great atmosphere of excitement and anticipation in school on the day of the filming.”
