Detectives are investigating a suspected arson attack yesterday at a restaurant in Palmers Green that has left the owner “devastated”.

The Greek restaurant Nissi in Aldermans Hill was gutted by a fire at around 5.30am, after a man broke through the front window and set the building alight.

It took ten firefighters to put out the blaze, which police are treating as suspicious, and left the restaurant badly damaged, with glass and rubble strewn across tables and the floor.

The owner of the popular restaurant, which opened two years ago, was too upset to comment but told the Enfield Independent that he was “devastated” and had no idea why his business had been targeted.

The suspect was caught on a neighbouring store’s CCTV, wearing a black balaclava, and can be seen breaking through the front window.

Enfield Police are appealing for anyone with information to call them on 0208 345 4587.
