MAJOR signalling work is to take place on the West Anglia Great Northern lines running through Tottenham.
The work is part of a £185 million, five-year overhaul of the WAGN routes running from Liverpool Street station.
Signalling control will be transferred from signal boxes to a central signalling centre at Liverpool Street.
Work on the route, which passes through Seven Sisters, Bruce Grove and White Hart Lane, is due to be carried out next year.
The line serving Tottenham Hale and Northumberland Park will be worked on in 2002.
Current signalling equipment on the routes is around 40 years old.
The lines will have to cater for the expansion of Stansted Airport and the international athlectics stadium at Picketts Lock.
