A SCOUT band from Enfield played to crowds at Disneyland in Paris earlier this week in celebration of the man who founded the movement.
The Enfield District Scout Band, which has been playing for 35 years, marched down Main Street on February 22 in honour of Association Founder's Day.
The youth organisation was founded by Englishman Robert Baden-Powell (1857 – 1951) in 1907.
Band member Stuart Symons, of the 18th Edmonton Scouts and Bush Hill Park Explorer Scout Unit, said. "I've had many adventures in Scouting, but this was the biggest. Before I became a Scout I would never have believed I could do anything like this". The scouts meet to practice one night a week, in addition to their normal Scouting activities, and have won awards for their musical ability.
They are no strangers to big parades, having played in the London New Year Parade, the Lord Mayor's Show, the Metropolitan Police Cadets Parade at Buckingham Palace and events across Enfield.
