BAT lovers are invited to join a night-time walk through Trent Country Park to see the creatures in their natural environment.

The two-hour walk starts at 9pm on Friday at Trent Park cafeteria, off Cockfosters Road.

The event was organised by the Herts and Middlesex Bat Group to give enthusiasts the chance to get a closer look at the animals as they forage in the park.

Detectors will be given out to help people hear the ultrasonic calls the mammals use to navigate and find their insect prey in the dark.

Alan Mitellas, parks outreach officer, said: “Our bat walk sets out at night and is for those interested in the lifestyles of bats and people who would like to hear them and see them up close.

"This walk is especially fun for children."
