A POLICE officer who helps victims of road accidents has been given an award dedicated to the memory of a dead teenager.
Traffic officer PC Ian Edwards received the Livia award for Professionalism and Service to Justice at a ceremony in Westminster.
This was for his outstanding work in supporting victims and families through their trauma during his 16 years as a traffic officer.
PC Edwards, 50, from Sidcup, works at the south-east London Collision Investigation Unit in Catford, which covers accidents in Bromley.
He said: "I am very honoured to receive the award, which recognises the hard work put in by all members of staff in the unit."
The award was founded in 1999 by George and Giulietta Galli-Atkinson in memory of their daughter Livia, 16, who was killed in a road accident.
