Motorists in streets near Ally Pally will have to make way as wacky soapbox racers speed past in an upcoming event.

There will be several road closures in place around Alexandra Palace in Muswell Hill and Wood Green for the fifth Red Bull Soapbox Race in the area.

Teams will create their unique looking rides for the unorthodox competition on Saturday (June 22).

A public notice has been published warning about the traffic disruptions from June 20 to June 23 at 11pm.

Alexandra Palace Way and South Terrace will be shut along their entire length through Alexandra Park.

No parking will be allowed on Alexandra Park Road from:

  • The north side between the common boundary of numbers 161 and 163 and 171 and 173.
  • The north side from the western boundary of the children’s nursery at Chantry Hall to a point outside number 135a.
  • The south side from outside number 150 to numbers 1 and 8 at Hampton Court, Alexandra Park Road.

Likewise, no parking is allowed at The Avenue, opposite numbers 1 to 43.

On Bedford Road, parking will be suspended on June 11 from 11am to 8pm on both sides between its junction with Alexandra Palace Way and palace Gates Road roundabout, the railway fence line outside cottages 27 to 152.

The entire length of Bedford Road and Buckingham Road will also be closed on June 22 from 6pm to 7pm.

Other closures include:

  • Palaces Gates Road between its junctions with Crescent Road and Bedford Road.
  • Station Road between its junctions with Park Avenue and Buckingham Road.

As a result, parking will be suspended on Palace Gates Roads between its junctions with Crescent Road and Bedford Road as well as between its junctions with Bedford Road and the common boundary wall of numbers 31 and 33 Palace Gates Road.

No parking is allowed on Station Road between its junctions with Park Avenue and St Michaels's Terrace.
